The biggest event on the Weardale Railway saw a new steam engine visit the line. None other than the small saddle tank normally seen at Barrow Hill. Here the engine was brought up as the railways resident tank engine No. 40 was under repairs.

The engine is seen working some of the passenger trains that went up to Stanhope where the field next to the station was turned into a site showing examples and re-enactments of World War II.

A very good event and something sure to worth visiting in 2011.
