Monday 13th April saw some small history made for the development of the railway on the Esk Valley. With the railway able to hold trains in two platforms at Whitby, a railtour managed to make the journey from Chester to the seaside town recessing in the new platform. While controversy over West Coast Railways operations remained, the tour was sub-contracted out to DB Schenker, with the result of a class 66 on a passenger turn to make it into Whitby. Pictures in the gallery see the tour at Nunthorpe before arriving in Whitby alongside other NYMR services.
