Oddly, this is so far the only Diesel Gala that has been done by the NRM at Shildon, others seemly moved to York being the venue, such as the class 37 collection day. However, this was one event that Locomotion should feel proud of, even if the public might still need some encouragement to see heritage diesels the same way they view steam.

The two resident shunters, the 08 that saw use in Holland No. 633 and 03, No. 03090 both were in use as shuttles while DB Shencker as it is know known sent recently repainted 60074 Teenage Spriit which was to raise awarness and money towards the charity Teenage Cancer Trust. DRS supported the event with a class 37, No. 37038 and 37003 was also in use demonstrating as was NRMs own 52, Western Fusilier.
